Dear Collector

Welcome to another bumper auction with 2500 lots from nearly 80 different vendors. We believe this is our most varied sale to date with 90 box lots, 540 world and Australian collections plus over 430 Western Australian lots consisting of stamps, postal history, postmarks and postcards. So many in fact that we have moved the usual start time to 10.00am on Sunday morning. We also have interesting sections of Autographs, Thematics, Airmails, including more lots from the Vince Brown collection, and some very attractive Cigarette Cards. We have provided our usual detailed descriptions to enable postal bidders to bid with complete confidence, in fact over 110,000 words!

Our front cover has been used to illustrate the range of material we have to offer. Not just valuable high priced single lots but unusual and interesting items. Hence the "Star of The East" WA postmark, New Zealand Poverty Bay Wounded Soldiers cinderella, Egg Stabilisation Charge Revenues, Great Britain £5 Machin imperforate pair, an attractive strip of three 5/- Sydney Harbour Bridge and a collection of Egyptian misperfs & oddities from King Farouk's personal collection.

There are too many single lots to highlight but rest assured whatever your collecting field there is something in this sale to tempt you and we cater to all budgets from $30 world collections to $10,000+ stunning World and Commonwealth collections. For those looking for new areas to collect or to diversify, don't miss the autograph section that includes Donald Bradman and Juan-Manuel Fangio and the cigarette cards that have some amazing collections including Australians in WWI in black and white.

Thank you again to both our regular vendors and those that are new to Ace Stamp Auctions. We are fortunate to have several interstate vendors that allow the WA collector to see material rarely offered here in Perth. Whilst we have a strong postal bidder contingent (over 300 in our last sale), we are fortunate to have over 100 room bidders at each sale showing the local appreciation.

We are continuing to work hard to maintain our low 12.5% buyer's premium by watching our overheads. One of these include the increased cost of printing and sending these catalogues. We have therefore removed many collectors who have not bid in the last 4 auctions. Some of you will be in this position after receiving this catalogue so please contact us to indicate your continuing interest if by some remote chance you cannot find something to bid on this time around!

My sincere thanks to John McPhee and Trevor Lacy for their assistance in describing. Their respective knowledge allows us to present such detailed and informative descriptions with realistic reserves that have resulted in an 80%+ sale rate in recent auctions. Thanks must also go to Janene for the copious amounts of typing, Marc for the IT support and both Damon and Dave for their help in collating the sale.

We are also privileged to have 5 auctioneers for this sale over the 2 days. We welcome Terry Finlayson to the group, a new local dealer who has his stock available at the local shows here in Perth. I urge you to introduce yourself during the weekend and the same goes for Trevor Lacy with his extensive WA stock and Mike McAndrew who specialises in coins and banknotes. Thanks to them all for bringing their expertise to the auction room and allowing our sales to proceed effortlessly.

Finally sincere thanks to my wife Christine whose recent retirement means that this catalogue has been ahead of schedule for the first time in 8 years!!

Enjoy the "read" and happy bidding!
