Dear Collector

Welcome to our first sale for 2019 and our largest yet in pre-sale reserves totalling $520,000 and the greatest number of vendors exceeding 100 for the first time. This includes some past and present well known and respected individuals in the hobby including Ross Wood, Mike Rhodes, Hubert Du Guesclin, Derek Dewhurst, Allan Forster, Brian Barratt and Tom Frommer. And thus the sale features their respective collecting fields with single lots and collections including numerous medal winning exhibits for Australian Airmails, Flying Boat Airmails, West Australia swans & postal history, Australian kangaroos & KGV, Great Britain, Ireland, Nyasaland, Zanzibar and even thematic ducks!

The catalogue stretches to over 100,000 words so it may be best to use it in conjunction with our website that also contains a search facility for key words as well as containing an additional 1000 images and an auction archive for past sales. (www.acestampauctions.com)

Once again we have endeavoured to have a cross section of material to interest all collectors on all budgets with lots from $20 to $30,000. With our latest auctions split 50/50 between postal sales and room sales we are keen to foster both, hence our detailed and accurate descriptions for those of you who cannot be in the room to view..

Rather than go into massive detail here as to key items, I'll let the illustrations speak for themselves. The front cover gives a taste of the material contained within, while the back cover shows a selection of the delectable Western Australia with the postcards, postmarks and postal history illustrated online. We continue to be known for having the expertise and reputation for Airmails and this is reinforced by the 270+ lots at the end of day one which incorporates both strong sections of Australian and World flown covers.

The kangaroos and KGV selections are some of the strongest we have had especially in terms of the varieties and shades. Rarely will you find an auction house that has broken these down so comprehensively so please take advantage of this by filling those specific gaps.

You will note, we work hard to break down large collections to benefit both the vendor and buyer. The vendor inevitably nets more, and the collector can buy specifically to their requirements rather than having to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars to obtain just the few items they want. So please consider Ace Stamp Auctions for the sale of your collection, we don't mind hard work and always go the "extra mile" to often secure an 80%+ sale rate not to mention, paying out in full 3 weeks after the sale without fail.

For those of you local to WA, we have enclosed details of the next Perth Stamp & Coin Show being held over 3 days from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st March. The attendance increases year on year and this event features 30 overseas, interstate and local dealers plus Australia Post so please make an effort to attend and support those that make a contribution through the trade. And of course we would welcome any overseas on international visitors and assure you of an enjoyable time here in Perth. (www.perthstampandcoinshow.com)

I have been involved in the stamp industry for over 30 years now and I have never experienced this thing called "long service leave" hence, after attending a stamp show in Tasmania in April, I will be taking 4 months off and away from stamps (if this is possible!). During this time both John McPhee and Trevor Lacy will be accepting material and describing for another jumbo sale on 23rd & 24th November. This is why we are not having a June/July auction this year but will return to our usual 3 sales in 2020.

In closing, thanks must go to John McPhee and Trevor Lacy for their assistance with describing and to the numerous others who assist on auction day who make a sale of this size possible including the four auctioneers who call different parts of the sale over the 2 days. Also to my wife Christine, who not only works over the auction weekend but is by my side in the wee hours of the morning as we label up 2300+ lots or scan 1000+ lots, my sincere thanks. I promise you won't be called on for at least 4 months!!

Finally and most importantly, thank you to the vendors who have trusted us to sell theirs and their families loved stamps and YOU, the bidder, for continuing to support us for nearly 13 years now, THANK YOU.
