Dear Collector

Welcome to our latest auction catalogue. This sale is very strong in Australia with larger than usual sections of both Kangaroos and KGV in both collections and single lots as well as decimals. These latter lots do not tend to appear in many auctions but I would encourage you to review them as they contain many recent issues including booklets and PNC's, some of which are proving to be genuinely scarce, you only have to ask your local dealer! In addition there are some attractive varieties and errors, an increasingly popular collecting field.

We also have an extended array of quality early Queen Victoria to KGVI Commonwealth sets and single lots plus selected European items. Several vendors have used these "Covid times" to rationalise their collections, so there are many opportunities to maybe start a new field or adding to existing ones.

As usual, there are many lots worthy of mention but space does not permit, however one of the highlights in this auction is the New Guinea 1915 2½d indigo Die II, 3rd watermark kangaroo ovptd "N.W. PACIFIC ISLANDS" with the "missing "1" in "½" fraction" variety. ACSC numbered 11C(2)j, it catalogues at $30,000 without the NWPI overprint. We were privileged to sell this same variety perfined "OS NSW" in our Sale 27 for $12,000+BP. This example is reserved at a conservative $7,500. (Lot 1553)

Meanwhile the sale of the KGV 1920/21 Colour Trials in our last auction for $22,000+BP has prompted the vendor to relinquish his remaining 6 proofs from both submissions. These 2 lots contain the very same stamps as illustrated in the current KGV Specialist Catalogue. (lots 1214 & 1215)

Another lot worthy of mention comes under our "Space section" (lots 429-436) with Neil Armstrong's autograph on a 1970 Alitalia Passenger Ticket cover. This is from the inaugural Alitalia 747 Jumbo jet flight from Rome to New York on 5th June 1970. The aircraft was named "Neil A Armstrong" upon which Neil Armstrong was a passenger as were the consignors who were able to obtain this autograph. Neil Armstrong's autograph is rarely offered as he shunned the limelight and stopped signing autographs in the 1990's before his passing in 2012. (lot 436)

There are also numerous "trade" lots for the budding part time dealer or Ebayer, possibly allowing you to finance your own collection through selling to others. We have identified these in the relevant lots and would urge you to consider their conservative reserves and the opportunities they present to expand into "dealing"!

Due to the amount of Western Australian material, we have decided to have this as a stand alone auction on Saturday 10th December with its own dedicated catalogue. If you have any specialist WA material you would like to consign to this auction as either single lots or collections, please contact me before 1st November to arrange at ianboulton@acestampauctions.com or on 0414 929 235. This catalogue will be by request only, however if you have purchased WA lots through us in the past, you will automatically receive one in late November. This auction will be headlined by collections from two well known established Perth families dating back to the late 1800's and will include Postmarks, Revenues, Fiscals and Postal History along with a beautiful range of the swan issues not offered on the open market before.

Please also make a note of the next Perth Stamp & Coin Show which will be held Friday 30th September to Sunday 2nd October at the South Perth Community Centre. We are looking forward to welcoming back the Eastern States Dealers as well as celebrating 10 years of this event with 4 very special PNC issues!

We have tried to include as many lots as possible in the attached colour plates to illustrate the variety and cross section of material in this auction but please do visit our website to view an additional 1000+ images at www.acestampauctions.com And remember, we continue to work hard to keep our overheads to a minimum to ensure we deliver the best value at the lowest Buyers Premium of any Australian public auction house!

In concluding, recent health issues have once again set me back, however we are determined to "forge ahead" and with the support of my wife Christine and the "Ace Team" this should be possible. Having literally celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary by proof reading and plating this catalogue late into the night, we are looking forward to a mini-break before the Sale 31 WA auction in December.

Thanks again to one and all for your ongoing encouragement and best wishes. Wishing you an enjoyable auction and happy bidding!

Ian Boulton
