1854 military letter franked 1d red-brown on bluish paper joined strip of 3, perf'd 16, from Fochabers, Scotland via London to Turkey. Cancelled barred "143" & addressed to "Major, His Serene Highness Prince Edward of Saxe Weimar, Grenadier Guards, British Army in Turkey". Backstamped (1) "Fochabers OC 11 1854 c" in blue-green & (2) London "Crown 13 OC 13 1854" in red. A lovely example.
