1931 (19th Feb) Calcutta to Darwin flight by P Fairbairn & K Shenstone crashed in Darwin. This cover with Indian ½a x 2 & 1a tied by Calcutta cds plus 2d KS tied by Darwin 24 AP 31 cds upon arrival. "British Flight England to Australia. Pilots:- G.P. Fairbairn & K. Shenstone Plane:- "Spartan Arrow", G-ABHD" cachet in violet. Also two line "DETAINED TILL 5TH APRIL ENGINE OVERHAULED" in violet tying stamps to cover. 1a KGV tied by 25 MAY 31 Park Street Calcutta cds tied upon return. Only 43 covers flown.
