France 1870 (29th Sept) Balloon mail carried on the "Celeste" on 30th Sept that landed at Dreux. Entire with 20c head with wreath tied by Paris Star no. 15 with neighbouring Paris Rue Bonaparte 1870 cds. Troan 16OCT 1870 arrival b/s. Letter written by a Monsieur Gerboz to his wife in Troan. A lovely example of the first flight of this balloon in VG cond. Ex Frommer.
