1865 (18th Aug) Proving cover for the 15 bar "20" numeral cancel. 2d blue & 6d violet swans tied by numeral cancel with adjacent Champion Bay cds 1. Addressed to England via Marsailles with circular "LONDON PAID" in red on front & two illegible back stamps. This mourning cover has unfortunately had a third stamp removed from the front. Only 10 proving covers are listed in Pope & Reynolds 2005 census. A scarce piece of early WA postal history.
