1857(?) Undated repaired letter from Northam to Victoria Plains with vertical 1d black swan pair placed sideways on cover. Top unit with 2½ margins, lower with 3½ margins tied by individual Northam PO 1 cancels . Cover has been expertly repaired with a new flap added & tear closed. Western Plains Post Office crowned oval across address. Addressed to "Mr Bartlett" (Edward Geoffrey Bartlett arrived in Perth 17th July 1850 on board the "Bootle") c/o Duncan McPherson who was a prominent pastoralist who leased "The Bayeen" property in Victoria Plains from 1849 to 1867. At that time he moved north to Carnamah where he & his boys started the "Carnamah Station" which ultimately grew to over 80,000 acres. (Bio attached). A lovely piece of early WA history with a pair of W.A.'s first stamps on cover. Ex Sykes
