1980 35t Tube Nosed Bat complete sheet of 50 with the incorrect "TERRY NOLAN" imprint on each of the corner imprint including a copy of the letter stating, "The error is on the 35t Tube Nosed Bat denomination which shows Terry Nolan as the artist on the margin or the selvedge of the sheet of stamps. The artist or rather the photographer should have been Eric Lindgren. This error was relised (sic) in July 1980 and 350,000 stamps were destroyed consisting of 20,000 at Crown Agents UK, 75,000 at Australia Post, 50,000 Helio Courvoisier and 205,000 on receipt in Port Moresby. The reprinting with margin showing Eric Lindgren was been (sic) ordered by for (sic) 350,000.". The original letter is signed by John Y. Walup, Production Manager, Philatelic Division. Fine & fresh MUH with the correct imprint blocks of 4 “normals” for each of the four affected corners for comparison with the correct imprint. Not previously recorded. Scarce
