Portugal 1853-1990 MUH, MLH & used in 2 Davo standard albums. Good range of used embossed from 1853 Queen Maria 25r in 2 shades, 1855/56 King Pedro to 100r (latter cut into, one side), 1862 King Luis to 100r (2 of latter), 1866/67 to 120r (odd fault), 1867/70 perf. 12½ set to 240r (latter minor faults), 1870/84 to 1000r (latter stained & trimmed on right side), 1882/87 to 500r magenta perf. 12½ (no 500r black), 1892/93 provisionals (11) incl 20r, 50r & 75r surcharges, 1894 Prince Henry to 1000r used (latter ovptd Acores, Cat. £90) & 1910 King Manuel set MLH (Cat. £125, some partly stuck) plus set ovptd Republica MLH (MLH) & a few other 1911/12 ovpts incl 300r on 50r used. Excellent "Ceres" used, 1924 Camoens to 20e mainly used, 1925 Branco missing scarcer vals, 1926/28 Independence MLH missing 1926 top 2 vals but incl surcharged set of 10 MLH & 1928/29 Ceres surcharges odds (28) MLH/used. Later mostly used & near complete to 1970 with only a few gaps. Useful M/S range MLH incl 1940 Rowland Hill (Cat. £150, few dents), Portuguese Centenaries (Cat. £325 but stained), 1944 Exhibition (£70), 1945 Navigators (£75), Naval School (£75) & 1946 Castle 1e75 x 4 MUH but snagged top right corner (£275). Also 1946 Bank of Portugal (Cat. £250) & 1949 Portraitis (£100) plus various MUH/MLH/used M/S's from 1974. Good "back of the book" incl range of "Cruz Vermelho" ovptd sets 1927 to 1936 complete MLH or used (1929 30¢ MLH with ovptd). Cond varies but huge cat. value & well worth reserve. (1000s)
