1935 (20th Mar) 1d KGV x 2 tied by Perth Air Mail slogan cancel on env addressed to "Miss Edna Boocock c/o Mr H Troughton Weat Murray via Pinjarra" with the scarce "Delayed through Pinjarra mail robbery." typed label attached diagonally next to address. This was one of the 3 daring robberies made on the Perth to Bunbury train service in 1935 with the aim of stealing the sustenance workers' pay from Registered mail. In this robbery on 21st March, the thieves were thought to be disturbed with only 6 bags of ordinary mail tampered with in the attempt. One bundle of letters were removed from the train in the robbery, this being one of them. It is believed that due to this not being found immediately & then retained by police, only the mail in this bundle had the slip applied. The West Australian reported it as follows; "A package of letters was stolen from the Perth-to-Bunbury train before it reached Pinjarra, 54 miles from Perth, early this morning. Six mail bags had been tampered with, but the thieves, apparently in a hurry, missed the registered letters." Some cover wear but remains full of character & one of the very few surviving examples. Scarce.
