1851 "Prince Consort essays" lettered "FJ" in lower corners with both the black & red brown shades. These were produced by Henry Archer as samples to submit to The Post Office with a view to undercutting the existing printing charges by Perkins Bacon. He wished to use the QV Wyon profile but was told not to, hence the use of The Prince Consort's profile. Also incls in an imperf ungummed De La Rue dummy stamp in blue green with £20 denomination inscribed "Oversea Dominions" around a central vignette & inscribed "Postage" twice at base. These date from about 1925. VG cond. (3)
