1842 (30th Dec) pre-stamp entire endorsed "via Falmouth" & addressed to "Capt. The Hon'ble Frederick Grey, H.M.S. Endymion" c/o a commercial address in Bombay. Appears to have been written & sent by his niece Mary Lambton in Hawick, Scotland & placed in the mails at Alnwick. HMS Endymion was a famous frigate most notably for its "duel" with the USS "President" in January 1815. At the time of this correspondence she was returning from taking part in the First Opium War (1840-42) in operations on the Yangste River. VG cond. Vendor paid $320 from ES auction.
