1961 5d 50th Anniv of 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition original artwork submitted for consideration. Features Mawson at left with the "Endeavour" in the background. Prepared in black & white Indian ink on thin card. The "AUSTRALIAN ANTARCTIC TERRITORY" wording has come away & reveals the original artists attempt to have the wording fit the limited space. The likeness of Mawson to the actual issue would suggest this was one of P Morriss original designs. Exc cond & a fascinating addition to an AAT collection.
